Dawn Angela (Haagsma) Carle,
Age 57, left her earthly home and joined her Heavenly Father on Thursday, October 8th.

Dawn leaves behind her long term partner Perry Blouin. Dawn is survived by her father Paul Ronald Haagsma, sisters Cindi Ann (Haagsma) Graat and Robyn (Haagsma) King, and brother Robert Randall Haagsma. Nieces Ashley Charise (Graat) McNeil and Tori Michelle Graat. Sister-in-law Becky Haagsma, nephew Christian Haagsma and niece Hannah Haagsma, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her Mother Rosemary (Warren) McKeighen and brother Stephen Haagsma.

Dawn was born in Indianapolis, IN and was a graduate of Carmel High School. She was active in the choir and other school activities. After graduating from high school Dawn traveled across the United States and first settled in Georgia where she enjoyed gardening and taking care of any stray animal that crossed her path. She moved onto Savannah, GA where she met her long time partner and love Perry.

Dawn was blessed with so many talents and qualities. She never met a stranger and never had a cross word to say. She was an amazing cook and baker. She loved making and sharing two of her favorite deserts at the holidays, pecan pie and Chinese chews. She crocheted, knitted, cross stitched and quilted. In her younger years in Georgia she would have a large garden filled with all sorts of vegetables and flowers. Her love of animals started at a very young age with her first cat, Snowy. Over the years many animals received Dawn’s love and care. Dawn was an avid reader. When she made her weekly trips to the library with Perry, she would check out as many books as the library would allow. She loved listening to classic rock. She enjoyed going to the movies with Perry.

Dawn was able to travel with Perry to see the United States including South Carolina, Colorado, California, Vermont, Wyoming, Washington State and finally settling in Indiana close to her family.

Dawn will be deeply missed by those whose lives she touched and was a part of. Family and friends are encouraged to share their favorite sentiments and stories about Dawn by leaving a message below on the condolence tab.

There will be a celebration of life for Dawn at Christian Faith Centre 5601 E. 56th Street Indianapolis, IN 46226 on Saturday, October 17th at 1:00 pm.

I shared many memories (and a bedroom) with Dawn for a few years growing up. We laughed a lot, cried some and drove each other crazy like sisters! Dawn was a special kind of person with a lot of love in her heart for animals and people. Rest in peace, little sister. My most sincere condolences to all Dawn’s family and friends.

Dawn and I were close friends for a short time in Carmel before my family moved away from Indiana. I’ll never forget her smile. I always deeply regretted not staying in contact with one of the brightest, gentlest, kindest people I ever knew. I wish I could tell you this now. Rest well Dawn. Deepest sympathies for your family.
